Imperialism Project

The reason why we did this project was because we had to learn what supplies the countries had and how much colonies of them were spread around the world. I learned that the Britain colonies had more colonies spread out throughout the world then any countries back in the old days. I also learned the trails they passed through to get to destination by boat or ship. Because Britain had more advanced technology then any country back them they had better advantages in anything.

Film Lesson: "Mountains of the Moon"

that slowed them down on their adventure. There are African tribes that steal, or even kill anything that In this movie there are these two guys named Richard Burton and John Speke who are exploring Africa dying to discover the source of the Nile river. They will do anything and face any danger just to discover the source. In case you don't know a source of any river means the place the water is coming from or where it begins from. And on their journey they stumble upon many obstacles trespasses their territory. They get robed twice on their journey. Once when they got slave helpers to carry their equipment during their journey, they just ran with the supplies. And another time when they were sleeping. And even when their sleeping bugs can hurt them badly like it affected John Speke. It is strange that the Lake Victoria is named after the British queen because why would they name a lake after a British name when the lake takes place all the way in Africa? I know the ones who explored it and discovered it were British but they should still give credit to the African since it is in Africa. The reason why the British technology is more advanced then the African is because they have guns that kill people faster and better without using time.

Karl Marx and Communsim

Karl Marx created the idea of communism. He thought of it and is proud of it. Communism is the idea that all the people were are equal. Equal in class, wealth. Karl Marx wanted the workers to unite and to take over the world. He was tired of the bosses to give commands to the workers. He describes the employees as cowards for not going after the bosses when they out-number them by a thousand! He was the workers as the good guys and the bosses as the evil people because they would be demanding them to work so much for so long. And so the idea of communism was born.

Karl Marx and the Industrial Revolution

Karl Marx born in Germany but his ideas inspired a big portion of Russia. He despised the idea of workers listening to orders and not having the control of anything. He also noticed the idea of the factories being so unsafe with the chance of an employee being risked to get hurt. He spoke to the world calling all workers to unite in some sort of revolution. Communism comes from the word common. He stated a law for all communists to have the equal amount of wealth/money, only Communists. He eventually died.He died in the year 1883 and his communism plans were passed on and never forgotten.

Nationalism and the Creation of Italy

Nationalism is the way someone admires the country from where they were born in. The way to express how you can show that you supporting nationalism is to blend in with the people in that country. The way you can tell if someone is from the same country as you is if you use the same money, celebrate the same holidays & festivals, talk the same language, have symbolic material, have a history that signifies your countries past. For example I am nationalistic because I use the same language, use the same money, talk the same language, believe the common religion etc.

Italy was conquered by napolean. Italy was isolated. Then Italy fought back and won their independence. Then they created their flag, their type of government etc. Italy was free from france and started to follow the rule of Nationalism

Simon Bolivar and the Latin American Revolutions

Simon Bolivar was a hero for accomplishing what he has done. Simon Bolivar was born on July 24, 1783. He was known as a hero in the countries of northern South America. He was known as a hero because helped gain the independence of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia (which was the reason why Bolivia is named Bolivia, its named after Simon Bolivar). He was a leader of military forces, he led them to victory. Others talked about fighting against the Spanish to regain independence but they just talked trash unlike Simon because he did exactly what he promised. The majority of South America was conquered by Spain. Simon came back to Venezuela from a trip and he was adviced that he should start to lead the army. When they won they all thanked Simon Bolivar not just Venezuela but other Latin American countries aswell. How ever Bolivia was the most thankful so now their country name is Bolivia dedicated to Simon Bolivar.

The enlightment

The enlightment occured during the eighteenth century. It was the era that changed modern history. This era gave us the government, the way things are runned and done. Without the enlightment we would be in fights, chaos etc. Thanks to John Locke who influenced Benjamin Franklin to give out government ideas. Government gets its power from the people (or public) because without the people why would there be a government and they would be fighting for nothing.

Scientific revolution: The Trial of Galileo

The trial of Galileo was a major argument between the theories of the heliosetric theory and the geocetric theory. The geocetric theory states that the Earth is the center of the universe. The heliocetric theory states that the sun is the center of the universe. People back then believed in the geocetric theory especially the christians. Galileo was a astronomer who studied space. He used the scientific method to help him proove his theory about the sun being in the center and not the Earth. Back then it was like a law to believe stuff written on the bible and it was forbidden to go against it. Galileo knew he wasnt wrong so he stood up and stated the heliocetric theory. They thought he was crazy and threw him in jail but went to court. This trial was a big thing because Galileo ended up losing the trial even though he was right.

Scientific Revolution: The Scientific Method

Ancient Greeks and Romans and the bible gave the scholars the idea of science ever since the 1500's. Some people used the bible to find out answers to their scientific questions. Christians used to have the belief that the Earth was the center of the universe when it wasn't but scientific revolution disagreed with the idea and it was proven right but how did they do that? They used the scientific method to explain how the Earth wasn't the center of the universe.

Scientific method means to study and study and experiment a lot so that they can find out that their theory was right. Isaac Newton was one of the scientists that used the scientific method to approve or disprove theories.

Evolution VS. Creation

Evolution believes that everything was made due to evolution. Charles Darwin was the man who started to think about this theory. He believes that everything is related to each other and that because we all have a common ancestor. Everything evolved which is why a lot of stuff look different from other stuff. It all started when Darwin started to wonder why different kinds of birds in different places of the world have different types of beaks. He then came out with the conclusion that every bird is related its just that they look different because of their habitat. The thing wrong about evolution is that we couldn't have come from primates because now and days we don't see the primates from our time evolve into humans. Evolution is entirely based on science and not religion unlike creation.

Creation believes that every thing was made up because of god. The bible states how god made the Earth, land, light, ocean, people etc. People that believe in creation use the bible as evidence because it was written thousands of years ago. Creation states that god made the first male and female humans also known as Adam and Eve. They were the 1st humans in this planet made by god but the problem with this theory is that if Adam and Eve are brother and sister and they mate that means that their children wont come out right so there for then those children mate with each other to make more children etc. Technically all humans are related to each other, that's what creation believes. Creation is based on pure religion (Christianity) unlike evolution.

I believe, well since i am a christian i believe in creation. I go to church on Sundays. I believe in god creator of the universe and disagree with the idea of evolution. I believe that god made us and we are all here because of him.
